The receiver of the Acta Oncologica Award is invited to give a lecture at the society’s annual meeting. We congratulate Kjetil Taskén on receiving the 2024 award. He will give his Acta Oncologica Award Lecture on 20 March 2024 during the Oncology Days in Malmö 19-21 March.

The award is a recognition of Professor Taskén’s scientific and strategic work, and the award demonstrates that his efforts are also being valued outside Norway. The prize itself consists of a diploma, a short summary of conducted research in Acta Oncologica and the possibility to give the Award Lecture at the annual meeting of the Swedish Society of Oncology.

We congratulate Kjetil Taskén on this well-deserved recognition by the Swedish Society ofOncology. The list of previous award winners include among others, Professor emerita Sophie Fosså from Oslo University Hospital, Nobel Prize winner Professor Harald zur Hausen, who showed the link between human papillomavirus and cervical cancer, Sir Richard Peto, emeritus Professor of medical statistics and epidemiology at the University of Oxford, and last year’s prize winner Professor Elisabeth de Vries from the University Medical Centre Groningen, the Netherlands. This demonstrates that the award ranks highly.
