The PCM4EU Spring Academy took place at IPO Porto, the Portuguese Oncology Institute of Porto on April 2-6.

One of the main activities within the training and education work package of PCM4EU is the organization of a Spring Academy for Precision Medicine in Oncology. The event took place in wonderful Porto in Portugal April 3-6 and was hosted by IPOPorto, the Portuguese Oncology Institute of Porto.

The Spring Academy opened with a symposium about precision cancer medicine, addressing both the past, the present and the future. This session was open to the general public either on-site in Porto or via video streaming. Each session had several speakers, who gave very interesting presentations followed by a plenary discussion including all the speakers.

This four-day event focused on implementation of precision cancer medicine across Europe and was in particular intended for young clinicians and investigators from PCM4EU partner countries. The agenda included topics such as development of clinical trial protocols, implementation of new tools in MTBs as well as the building of a multi-stakeholder organization around DRUP-like clinical trials. Participants got to enjoy both lectures given by renowned speakers, practical workshops as well as sessions for sharing experiences.

A big thank you to the organizing committee for putting together such an interesting program (Loic Verlingue, Iwona Lugowska, Bettina Ryll, Ebba Hallersjö Hult, Manon Antouly and Agnieszka Janowska) and for the great hospitality and seamless running of the event at IPO Porto (Julio Oliveira, Rui Henrique, Beatrice Mainoli and Joana Monteiro).

In connection to the Spring Academy, the third PCM4EU project meeting was held on April 2-3, which allowed updates from all the work packages as well as good networking and discussion opportunities for consortium members. Furthermore, the Administration Board at IPO Porto started this eventful week by inviting participants to an institutional tour through the hospital facilities and the Research Centre. The PCM4EU consortium also enjoyed a memorable dinner at the Yeatman, with an exquisite view of the old town of Porto, and the Spring Academy participants could also enjoy a boat tour on the Douro river one evening.

In the photo gallery below some snap shots from this eventful week are available. Photos were taken by the IPO Porto team as well as several consortium members.
